We assist the State Department of Public Health by providing counseling services to parents who receive a diagnosis of sickle cell trait for newborns.

We work to raise awareness about sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait through educational seminars, health fairs, workshops, in-service training, meetings, and presentations throughout our 13 county service area.

We offer both group counseling and individual counseling to those living with Sickle Cell Disease with a licensed counselor. Group Counseling occurs once a month at no cost to clients.

Support group sessions provide an opportunity for Clients to share personal experiences with sickle cell treatments, challenges, and coping strategies.

I Am Pretty Enough
This group supports girls (8-15 years old) through the social and emotional challenges of living with sickle cell disease. Group meets once a month on Saturdays. The program is ongoing, please call 205.780.2355 to sign up.

Free transportation provided as needed for medical appointments. A request for transportation assistance must be made at least 3 days before a scheduled appointment.

Launching 2025
An exciting new program utilizing an urban garden will endeavor to use the least amount of non-organic interference possible. The fruits and vegetables grown in this program will be available at no cost to those living with sickle cell disease. Please call 205.780.2355 to book an appointment to view available produce.
Limited social service support for other critical needs of sickle cell clients may be available. We also offer psychosocial support, community referrals, vision care assistance, summer camps, and scholarships.

Arts Therapy Program (Adults)
Arts Therapy Program will allow adults with sickle cell disease to commune with other warriors in a judgement free space. Guest lecturers will involve them in varied types of artistic expression including painting, mixed media, poetry, etc. Some of these pieces will be chosen to be highlighted at future association events.
